Day one

You wake up early, not because you have to, but because anticipation keeps you awake. A light breakfast, and here you are at the pier, where a boat is waiting for you. The expedition to Valaam begins.

The road along Ladoga is already a separate adventure. Water, sky and rocky shores that slowly float by. You dock at the monastery walls, and the island greets you with silence. Pine trees, granite, ancient hermitages and the feeling that time flows differently here. Three hours on the island fly by like a flash, but they leave a mark that stays with you for a long time.

Return to the Manor — and it's already evening. You go to your cottage, where a Karelian tea party with a samovar is already waiting on the table. Bagels, honey and jam made from northern berries. You are sitting on the terrace, looking at the nature of Karelia and exchanging impressions — what you saw, felt, understood.

And after that, a bathing ritual on the shore of the bay. The heat of the Canadian cedar steam room is replaced by the coolness of the baptismal font, and then by a warm vat under the stars. Time freezes. The body relaxes, and the soul fills up.

Day two

The morning begins slowly. Breakfast in the restaurant, fresh pastries, hot coffee. And after that, a tour of the Estate. The Elevator Museum with authentic items and archival photographs, century-old alleys along which the first owners of the estate walked in 1892.

Be sure to visit the church of St. Tsarina Alexandra — even if you are far from religious life, it is worth entering here for the sake of light, architecture and the special silence that reigns here. The story comes to life, becomes tangible.

Finish the day with a walk along the Lapinlinna eco-trail. A bridge over a precipice, an ancient temple, observation decks with views of Ladoga. You are walking through a forest where the silence is broken only by birds and the wind in the pines. And you feel that this day has added something important to your inner piggy bank.
